I chose the song "Englishman In New York" by Sting. This song is in his album "Noting like the Sun" and this song have more than one musical element (jazz, rock and reggae.)
I at first met this song in English Class in junior high school and now this is one of my favorite songs in English.
In this song, it is sung a man's loneliness to live in foreign country (,or a region that have cultural difference from his hometown) and his struggle to be himself. The message in this song is "Be yourself no matter what they say," this phrase are sung again and again in this song.
In fact, this song by Sting was written for one of his friends, a writer Quentin crisp(1908-1999). Quentin had emigrated from London to New York for a reason. In those days there was discrimination against homosexual in London, so he couldn't continue to live there. Quentin was gay.
So, I think that impressive phrase in this song "Be yourself" have two meanings, cultural one and another that "Don't give in to discrimination, stick to your way !"
